- Sortation Systems - Product Handling Flexibly and Throughput | TREW
Sort out your options for sortation - line, loop, circular, unit, popup, transfers, diverts; TREW delivers technology with PLC based sorter controls and WCS software. Top of Page LRS MRS HRS HOME SOLUTIONS SORTATION Sortation Getting items to the right place at the right time is a fundamental need in fulfillment operations. Success requires a combination of software, hardware and know-how to create the right solution. Sorter applications include facility routing, order consolidation, inventory distribution, workstation balancing, buffering, staging, shipping and more; often functions mission critical for operations. There are number of factors that go into designing the right solution such as the type of items being handled, how items are packaged, product flow to the sorter, method of inducting items to the sorter, ability to take items away from the sorter, not to mention the sorter technology capabilities. When applied correctly, sortation unlocks operational capacity and efficiency, if it can become a capacity restraint impacting operational flow throughout the entire operation. LRS High-Speed Sortation 100–300 cpm+ TrewSort® Sliding Shoe Sorter Trew’s Sliding Shoe Sorter delivers high-capacity, high accuracy, gentle positive divert sortation of cartons, totes, jiffys, and polybags. Sliding shoe sorters are used in routing and shipping operations and are typically mission critical for successful operations. TrewSort’s AI self-learning actuators and inherent design for operations, maintenance, and installation deliver sortation capabilities to keep your systems running reliably at peak performance. MRS Mid-Rate Sortation 45–120 cpm Popup-Wheel Popup-Wheel sorters are used in carton and tote applications for routing flow in a building and low-rate shipping applications. Utilizes identical parts as Series K and Series 1500, which reduces the overall spare parts required for a system. Sweeper Sorter Sweeper Sorters provide a compact footprint for sortation of small products to densely aligned destination; ideal for applications such as books, pharmaceutical products, small packages, polybags, mail, multimedia and jewelry. 90º Narrow-Belt Line Sorter 90⁰ Narrow-Belt Line Sorters provide quiet higher throughput bi-directional transfers of cartons and totes where their orientation is not maintained; ideal for buffering and routing applications with a high number of parallel divert lanes. 30º Narrow-Belt Line Sorter 30⁰ Narrow-Belt Line Sorters divert items using pop-up wheels located at various locations along the length of the sorter. The design features quiet bi-directional diverting of cartons and totes while maintaining orientation. HRS Low Rate Sortation < 45 cpm Motorized Roller Diverts Motorized Roller Diverts are typically part of a motorized roller solution often used in low-rate tote and carton handling application. Right Angle Transfers Right Angle Transfers are typically part of a motorized roller solution transporting totes and cartons, often used in pick-and-pass and workstation areas. Unit Sortation Robotic Shuttle Product Sortation (RSPS) RSPS is an automated store replenishment fulfillment & sortation alternative to put walls and item loop sortation that can increase order fulfillment by up to 4X, maximize shipping container cube utilization by up to 10%, and fit in a compact footprint. Push Tray Unit Sorter Push Tray Unit Sorters are flexible single sided sorters capable of handling a wide range of products like polybag, apparel, odd-shaped items to heavy cartons on the same sorter, using a pusher element to positively divert products. In applications with a wide range of items size, the twin pusher design can double the throughput capacity of the sorter. Split Tray Unit Sorter Split Tray Unit Sorters are used to sort relatively lightweight items in high throughput ecommerce, omnichannel, retail fulfillment, postal, laundry, and pharmaceutical applications. Due to the unique tray shape, non-conveyable and round objects can be handled on this sorter in addition to standard products, such as apparel, postal flats and packages, books, pharmaceuticals, polybags, multi-media, jewelry, accessories and more. Cross Tray Unit Sorter Cross Tray Unit Sorter is used in applications that need to sort the smallest, lightest, and least conveyable items. The sorter is suitable for small parcels, ecommerce items, fashion, shoe boxes, sportswear and pharmaceutical products. Cross-Belt Unit Sorter Cross-Belt Unit Sorter is used for the highest throughput, operational flexibility, and handling the widest range of items– small to large. They are often the best solutions for non-conveyable, apparel, and light items as well as envelopes, parcels, totes, and heavy packages. They fit well in many applications such as ecommerce, apparel and footwear, parcel and cross docking operations. A sorter is only a part of the story in tailoring a solution for your business. During conception, we will listen to you about your business and goals, collaboratively work through alternatives for induction, sortation logic, destination configurations, after-sort design, and the operations downstream of the sort.
- Robotic Warehouse Automation - Flexibly and Efficiency | TREW
TREW robotic warehouse and fulfillment automation delivers flexible and efficient solutions integrated with SmartMoves WES and WCS. HOME SOLUTIONS ROBOTICS Robotics In many operations the changing business environment drives a need for flexibility that can scale and adapt. Fixed automation fulfillment excels in operations where speed and efficiency are critical, and inventory profiles and operational flows are well known. Manual operations provide the ultimate flexibility for a business to adapt processes while struggle with staffing, speed and accuracy. Robotics can help when you need more than manual processes can provide. A range of robotic systems are available that can help. Figuring out the best-fit answer for a business often involves defining a combination of process and multiple technologies that can deliver flexibility, scale and a positive return on investment. Making a solution work means integrating the systems for coordinated fulfillment operations. ® Goods-to-Robot Each Picking Robotic Pick Cell (RPC) provides automated picking tote-tote, tote-bag, tote-box, etc. converting goods-to-person stations into goods-to-robot stations. The RCP picks a wide variety of items, rapidly identifying and picks them without needing pre-programmed SKU information using built-in algorithms to measure and adjust grip quality for accurate transfers. Mobile Robotic Goods-To-Operator Robotic Goods-to-Operator uses autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to create a storage and retrieval picking subsystem that includes put-away, inventory storage, replenishment and order picking. The solution is very flexible in how it adapts to changing inventory profiles and order volumes. The modular system architecture of this approach can scale to increase storage volume or fulfillment throughput independently by adding more storage racks or robots, as needed. The subsystem works by tracking inventory stored in racks and bringing the racks required to fulfill an order to an operator station. The operator performs a pick from racks as they are presented, and consolidates items required for an order. Robotic Put Walls Sure Sort® is a compact scalable small-item sorting system alternative to traditional put wall that can be applied in order consolidation, retail replenishment, inbound SKU, kiting, returns and parcel sortation applications. Robotic Shuttle Product Sortation (RSPS) RSPS is an automated store replenishment fulfillment & sortation alternative to put walls and item loop sortation that can increase order fulfillment by up to 4X, maximize shipping container cube utilization by up to 10%, and fit in a compact footprint. Articulated Arm Robotics Articulated Arm Robotics automates the handling of pallets, cases and totes to address applications where repetitive motion or heavy lifting by an operator could cause injury or fatigue. A range of applications can be solved such as outbound order palletizing, inbound case depalletizing, or decasing inventory into totes.

HOME SOLUTIONS CONVEYOR SYSTEMS Conveyor Systems The best type of conveyance systems for operations are the ones they don’t have to think about. The conveyance does its job as the lifeblood of product movement in distribution and fulfillment facility, and they can be confident it will get products where they need to be. We know the right design for a manufacturing, distribution, or warehousing facility can save millions over the course of its operation. Conveyors are one of the technologies that can help. They are used to move products at rates and capacities that exceed what you would do with alternatives such as AMRs. Whether handling cases, totes, polybags, jiffys or parcels, each system should be designed with the right mix of transportation, accumulation, and intelligent handling conveyor to fit your business. Performance & Reliability High-Speed Merge & Inductions High-Speed Merge & Inductions are a combination of belt and v-belt live roller conveyors designed to run reliably at high-speeds with minimal maintenance. Combined with intelligent controls they balance building and product flow to create a high-density single stream of products for downstream operations or sortation. - ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System, AS/RS) | TREW
More fulfillment throughput with less floor space; solve buffering, sequencing, picking, goods-to-operator applications with robotics, mini-load, or shuttles. HOME SOLUTIONS STORAGE & RETRIEVAL Storage & Retrieval Sometimes working the cube is the best thing to do to increase storage utilization and improve picking efficiencies. Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) create dense inventory storage to maximize floor space by using the vertical space in a building. These systems can increase picking labor productivity by eliminating lost time walking and searching for inventory, and drive +99.99% accuracy rates by presenting the right inventory at the right time. The inventory stored in ASRS systems will vary by solution, often categorized into three types of solutions. This operation stores work in-progress or completed orders until they are needed. This type of solution can allow operations to work ahead of order commitment dates and even peaks and valleys in labor requirements. The orders stored in the buffer and retrieved and delivered at the time they are needed for shipping. BUFFERING This operation stores completed orders or work in process, retrieving containers in the order they are needed. A common application for completed orders is reverse truck stop loading. In this case, orders are flowed to shipping so that the truck is loaded with orders for its last stop first, and the first stop last. SEQUENCING This operation stores items, typically slow- to medium-movers, retrieving them to present them to an operator. This is typically the most complicated of the solutions, requiring a high level of coordination between overall operations and the ASRS system to optimize the solution so inventory and orders flow efficiently through a building. PICKING Successful automated storage system solutions include thinking and planning beyond the storage mechanisms. Timing and coordination of the subsystem with the overall order fulfillment processes and building flow, how items are inducted and stored, types of containers whether they be cases, totes or trays will be loaded and handled, among other things need to be considered. An ASRS solution can include one or more of the following technologies: Mobile Robotic Goods-to-Operator Robotic Goods-to-Operator uses autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to create a storage and retrieval picking subsystem that includes put-away, inventory storage, replenishment and order picking. High Density Case Cube Storage The i-collector is a three-dimensional dynamic storage system used as a buffer device for a wide range of standard totes and trays. The storage structure stores totes, a stack of totes or trays from one side, and then retrieves what is needed from the other. The design allows induction and takeaway through a manual process or automated flow. The design is based on proven technology, and its size can easily be adjusted to fit existing building. Applications include item picking, case picking, shipping buffers, and production buffers. Robotic Aisle Picking Perfect Pick® is a robotic solution that combines tote storage, robotic shuttles, and goods-to-operator picking station into a single aisle design that can easily expanded as businesses grow and ideal for ecommerce, micro-fulfillment, retail, wholesale, and parts fulfillment. cASRS-to-Operator Infinity® is a robotic cASRS (cubic ASRS) high density storage system that brings together large and patented n-Deep tote storage with iBots that can access the entire storage array and each presentation station. The result is a configurable, flexible, resilient, fast and accurate picking system ideal for ecommerce and micro-fulfillment, store replenishment, parts/wholesale distribution and fulfillment. Mini-Load System Shuttle System Mini-Load & Shuttle Systems Mini-load and shuttle systems are used in ambient, chilled or frozen environments to solve similar applications. Mini-load tends to fit with low to medium throughput solutions, while shuttles fit better with medium to high performance solutions. These systems create extremely high storage density and can handle a broad range of items; working well in in e-commerce, omnichannel, and wholesale fulfillment solutions. The main difference is how the system interacts with storage. Mini-load systems use a single load handler mounted on a moving mast to access all the locations in a storage aisle, while shuttle systems use more load handler vehicles that are assigned to specific levels of the storage structure. They have some variation in specifications like maximum product weights, aisle lengths, or storage depth, but the main tradeoff between the systems are operational throughput vs. investment. The design of ASRS subsystems need to consider performance of each of its elements like the pick and drop off flow, lift throughput, vehicle/load handler performance as well as type and spread of inventory. Oftentimes the most challenging aspects of ASRS systems are the overall solutions flow and external error prevention. Spending the time and effort to work through the solution flows and how subsystems interact is a critical part of implementing a successful solution.
